Rashtrotthana, Mythic Society not functioning on govt land: BJP

Taking a dig at the state government for its decision to withdraw land granted to Rashtrotthana Parishat and Mythic Society, BJP spokesperson S Suresh Kumar on Tuesday said that neither organisation was functioning on government land.

In a statement, Kumar has said that the government had not granted any land to either the Parishat or Mythic Society.

"Though the Mythic Society has paid Rs 1.80 crore for the land, the government is yet to hand over possession of the same. Where is the question of withdrawing the land? Likewise, the government has not granted any land to the Parishat. It's a laughable matter," he has said.

He also said that the land in Thanisandra from where the Parishat was functioning, was donated by internationally recognised eye surgeon Dr M C Modi for educational purposes. "I am willing to take the Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner to inspect the land," he added.

Notices not received

The Parishat too has clarified that it has not been granted any land by the previous BJP government.

In a statement, Dinesh Hegde, Parishat's general secretary has said that the Parishat has not received any notices from the Bengaluru Urban district administration. He has said that the Parishat has been running an educational institution catering to underprivileged students on the land donated by Dr Modi.

On Monday, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa had announced that the government was withdrawing land, 10 acres each, given to the Parishat and Mythic Society as they were not using the same for the "specified" purposes.
