'Free Kodagu from clutches of communalism'

A few communalists are attempting to disrupt peace in Kodagu district, said former MLC A K Subbaiah.

He was speaking to reporters after taking part in the second death anniversary of his wife Dati Subbaiah, at Ponnampete on Wednesday.

"Kodagu is known for communal harmony. However, a few are conspiring to disrupt the peace. The communalists should not be allowed to harm the district. Incidents of violence and goondaism should not occur in the district," he said.

"It is my dream to free Kodagu district from the clutches of communalism. The communalism will not help in the development of the society. There is a need to fight against environmentalists who have been playing on the lives of farmers and labourers in the district. Who has given power to the environmentalists to oppose railway project in Kodagu district?" he asked.
