The district has geared up for the Sadhana Samavesha, where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will launch development works worth crores of rupees in Belur, Arsikere, and Arkalgud on January 4. However, the visit of the CM to H D Deve Gowda's native district has created curiosity, as the JD(S) has warned of staging protests.

The CM will launch development works worth Rs 100 crore in Arsikere, Belur, and Arkalgud taluks. The CM will reach Arsikere by helicopter and launch works worth Rs 16.5 crore. Later, he will launch works worth Rs 48 crore in Belur and Rs 37 crore in Arkalgud. All necessary arrangements have been made in this regard.

JD(S) warns protest

Meanwhile, JD(S) has warned of staging a protest displaying black bands during the CM's visit to the district, if the government programme turns into a party programme.

JD(S) district unit president Lingesh warned that if the opposition party leaders are humiliated during the programme, the JD(S) elected representatives would boycott the event.

They also warned of staging a protest in Belur with black bands as the government is launching the works related to the Yettinahole project, neglecting the farmers.

Meanwhile, H D Deve Gowda has alleged that the CM has been misusing the government's machinery including Deputy Commissioner and others, in the name of samavesha. He alleged that the government has been forcing people to attend the programme and is also harassing a few officials.

Heavy police bandobust has been made as the programme is being held in the strong fortress of JD(S), and there are possibilities of the programme turning into a show of strength.
