For that pop of colour

For that pop of colour

The trend of colour-blocked eyelids is all about indulging your love of colours and your love of make-up and creating mesmerising looks with contrasting hues. Dramatically different from the general looks one generally goes for, colour-blocked eyes make you stand out specially if loud, bold colours are used.

Any make-up style that is different from your mainstream look takes a certain confidence to pull off, but if you are a make-up aficionado and are on top of all runway trends, then this is right up your alley.

Colours that work for Indian skin

The slight brown of the Indian skin tone makes it possible to experiment with a wide colour palette. It's the fair skin that requires more thought in the use of shades. All the bold colours like yellow, electric pink, cerulean blue, etc work well on Indian skin. If you want to keep it a little subtle, you can go for the pastel eye-shadow palette.

Here are some simple steps to nail the perfect colour-blocked eye look:

Start by applying an eye primer on the eyelid and under your eyes. It gives you an even base to start with and the make-up lasts longer.

Now apply a cream or gel-based eyeliner in your choice of colour, say yellow, using a sponge tip applicator, starting from the inside of the lid and working your way out. You may give it a winged look.

Now take another contrasting colour, say blue, for the waterline. Start applying it from the outer corner of your eyes and work your way in, applying evenly.

You can go for a look using two or three colours. Application of eyeliner will vary accordingly while the base make-up may remain the same.
