Film on Dara Singh planned

A film on the life and times of wrestler-actor Dara Singh is planned as confirmed by his son Vindoo Dara Singh to DH.

"It is in its initial stages and we are working on it," Vindoo Dara Singh told Deccan Herald. "A channel has also approached us for a series on his life ," he added.
A professional wrestler, actor and politician, Dara Singh ((19 November 1928 12 July 2012) has played major roles in several films and he is most popularly known for his role of Hanuman in TV series Ramayan.
Singh made a name in the field of professional wrestling and had over 500 professional fights to his credit, all undefeated. Singh won the title of 'Rustam-E-Punjab' and 'Rustam-e-Hind' for his wrestling prowess. Also, he became the Commonwealth Champion in 1959 and in 1996 he was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.
Dara Singh was a stunt performer in films for years and played his first lead role in Babubhai Mistry's film King Kong (1962). He then went on to do television shows in the late 1980s, where he gained immense popularity as Hanuman in the television adaptation of the Hindu religious epic of Valmiki's Ramayana.
