JD(S) to reshuffle office-bearers

Last Updated 21 April 2010, 19:30 IST

Speaking at the programme, JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy attributed the party’s debacle to the media which distanced him and his party from the voters of the City. “For example, my comments on criminals-turned-political aspirants were taken out of context by a certain media house. Such news has actually hurt us in the run-up to the BBMP elections,” he said.

The former Chief Minister said the party was planning to reshuffle its office-bearers in each Assembly constituency in the City in two to three days and remove those who deliberately sabotaged the party performance.

He also admitted that the party would have won 40 seats if had not made mistake in choosing the right candidates for the right wards.

“While our vote share has increased, many of our candidates lost by a slim margin. We might have made certain errors in propping candidates in certain wards, may be due to the mess that was there in certain wards,” he said. Earlier, the candidates who had lost from various wards shared their opinion and explained reasons such as back stabbing, leaders’ indifference and lack of support from the party high command which led to their defeat.
