Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will follow the strict routine of a hermit during his stay at the Adichunchanagiri Mutt in Kengeri.

Yogi is in Bengaluru to take part in BJP's Navakarnataka Nirmana Parivartana Yatra on Sunday.

Adityanath, who landed in the city at around 9.30 pm on Saturday, headed straight to the Mutt's Kengeri centre. BJP leader R Ashoka is overseeing Adityanath's visit. "Arrangements were made for his stay a week in advance so as to allow him to follow the routine as per the Natha Pantha tradition," Ashoka, a former deputy chief minister, said.

It is said Adityanath wakes up as early as 3 am, offers prayers and practises Yoga. His daily diet includes fruits, grams and oats for breakfast. "Everything he eats will be cooked and served in the Mutt itself," Ashoka said.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt is said to have close links with the Gorakhnath Mutt in Gorakhpur, where Adityanath was the head priest. Both mutts follow the Nath Pantha, a sub-tradition of Shaivism. Ashoka, a Vokkaliga, said he also belonged to the Natha Pantha.

Adityanath will perform religious rituals, have breakfast and head to the BGS playground in Vijayanagar, where he will address a rally.

He will then go to the Adichunchanagiri Mutt at Vijayanagar for lunch. Sources said the Mutt's seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami has personally invited Adityanath for lunch.
