'Regular use of organic food yields good health, longevity'

Oncologist Dr K R Vasanth advised people to consume food produced out of organic cultivation.

He said this during the inaugural function of an organic food fest and seminar based on the topic organised by Chaitrashree Nisarga Organic food stall and Susthira Abhivruddhi Samsthe at Brahmasamudra Kalyana Mantapa here on Sunday.

A persons' immunity increases with the practice of a natural lifestyle and food habits, along with meditation and work-out. This was the secret of health and longevity of people in the past. But the traditional system of food is being neglected today, he said and added that various chemicals used in the cultivation of food are resulting in more number of diseases.

Kadur Taluk health officer Dr S K Prabhu called upon the farmers to use organic methods of cultivation.

Indigenous paddy varieties such as 'Gandhasale', 'Kalajira', 'Karigajavili', various types of millets and other organic food products were on display.

Chaitrashree Susthira Abhivruddhi Samsthe founder, trustee B R Vinay, Jawari seed bank founder Shankara Langati and A N Anjaneya of Sharana Muddanna Savayava Krishikara Balaga, Harihara, were present among others.
