South Africa post 72-run victory
South Africa defeated India by 72 runs in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series at the Newlands here on Monday.

Chasing a victory target of 208, India were bowled out for 135 in 42.4 overs, with Vernon Philander claiming six for 42.

Earlier in the morning session, the Indian quick bowlers did superbly well to bowl South Africa out for 130 in their second innings. But the Indian batsmen couldn't cash in on the chance.
