High drama prevailed at the Kims hospital here on Monday, as relatives of one of the two victims of an accident claimed there was medical negligence and staged a protest.

Relatives and friends of Praveen Mule, 23, who was declared brought dead by the doctors, have charged that he was shifted to the mortuary though he was alive, and his heartbeat was felt when his body was shifted from the mortuary for post mortem.

Mule and his friend Anil Renake were declared brought dead by the Kims doctors in the wee hours of Monday, after their car met with an accident. Mule's relatives and friends said they found him alive, when he as brought out of the mortuary after over six hours.

"As the doctors did not attend on him immediately, we shifted him to Lifeline Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead and said his death might have taken place just an hour ago," they said.

The protest was withdrawn after DCP (law and order) Renuka Sukumar promised to get the post mortem performed by doctors not associated with Kims, under the supervision of the assistant commissioner.

Mule's father Subhash has lodged a complaint with the Vidyanagar police. Kims director D D Bant said action would be taken against the doctors concerned, if they are found guilty. KIMS acting medical superintendent Shivappa Anurshettar denied there was medical negligence.
