Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade has called upon people of the coastal districts to share cordial relations among all to maintain peace and tranquillity in the region.

In a press release, the Dharmadhikari said that there was loss of lives due to violence and unrest prevailing in the coastal region for the last few days. The feelings of mistrust and hatred are seen among people who are basically peace-loving, he has regretted.

He said some recent developments are shocking as the differences of opinion, which have led to the violence, could have actually been sorted out through talks. Such acts of violence are not accepted by any religion. Therefore, people from various religions should treat each other well, he stated.

Citing the examples of persons from other communities who gave a helping hand in rushing the critically injured persons to the hospital during the brutal attacks, Heggade said that the gestures by the good Samaritans show that humanity alone should be in the fore and not religion, caste or community.

Provoked feelings and decisions made out of hastiness will destabilise the tranquillity in the society. Therefore, one has to shun the feeling of vengeance and do away with witch-hunting to respect the real 'Dharma' or righteousness, he said.

Also, the elders, parents, brothers and sisters in the family should talk among themselves about maintaining peace and spread the feeling of solidarity. Especially, the youths should cultivate the qualities of perseverance and patience, Heggade said and added that the differences between people should be forgotten to re-instil hope in the region, in the place of apprehension and fear.
