Woman cooks up story to end marriage

In a bid to separate from her husband, a 20-year-old newlywed woman cooked up a story and sent the police on a wild goose chase claiming she was kidnapped and gang-raped by four unidentified men who picked her up from Byatrayanapura  on Friday.

The woman believed that her husband and in-laws would desert her after they find out she was gang-raped. She came with her father  on Friday  night and lodged a complaint with the Byatrayanapura police.

The west division police, who formed special teams to probe the case, found out that the woman had cooked up the story and are contemplating booking her for filing a false complaint.

In her complaint to the police, the woman stated that she was walking in Timber Yard Layout near Shalini Garments off Mysuru Road, when a passerby approached her and told her somebody was calling her. While she turned around, a white Maruti Omni stopped beside her and pulled her in. The occupants of the car then gagged her and threatened to kill her if she screamed, she stated in her complaint. She was then taken to another place and was raped till 8 pm repeatedly by four men who were aged between 25 to 30, she told the police. She was then blindfolded and dropped off at Kalasipalyam bus stand from where she took an autorickshaw and returned home. She also said the men robbed her of her gold ornaments.

The Byatrayanapura police found that the CCTV footage at Kalasipalayam did not support her claims. During the time she claimed she was abducted, she had met one of her friends, according to the police. The police also learnt that the woman had given her ornaments to one of her friends to whom she had revealed her plan. The police then summoned the woman and her friend and counselled them.
