Last Updated 09 January 2018, 20:29 IST

At the match-making event held for the hearing-impaired on Tuesday, four couples were selected and they would tie the knot on Wednesday.

Swayamwaraa Trust, which organised the event, said 65 people with hearing impairment took part in the match-making process. Besides Bengaluru and from the rest of Karnataka like Mysuru, Mandya, Dandeli and Karwar, participants also came from the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

One of the girls explained to a potential groom that she is a vegetarian and hated anyone who drank. To which the boy, also hearing-impaired like her, shook his head and emphasised that he does not drink or eat meat.

Such things apart, the potential brides, grooms and their relatives did not discuss caste or language as it usually happens.

Some of the girls, who were given the chance to choose their potential life partners, managed to select a match, while others could not manage it. "Four couples had been selected and they will marry on Wednesday," said the founder of Swayamwaraa Trust, C N Vijayaraj.

He also said another selection event would take place on Wednesday morning.
