Noted comedian Aziz Ansari has been accused of sexually inappropriate conduct. In an interview to a hitherto unknown news outlet called babe.net, a photographer named Grace detailed an account of her first meeting with Ansari and how the two became close, which later resulted in an uncomfortable encounter.
The news first broke out by babe.net author Katie Way, who posted the news article on her twitter feed:
I talked to a girl who says she went on a date with @azizansari in an exclusive for @babedotnet. She told me, "It was by far the worst experience with a man I’ve ever had." I believe her. #TimesUp #MeToo #AzizAnsari https://t.co/p7q0fjSsh0

The article details how Grace met Ansari at an event, which ended with them exchanging numbers. Later, as Grace says, the two flirted with each other and decided to go on a date, which is where things went wrong.
According to her, Ansari conducted himself in an inappropriate manner after the date but refrained from explicitly calling the encounter a rape.
The text string following the date was shared on Instagram, which showed Grace's point of view of their encounter and Ansari's apology at his actions:

Twitter was generally divided on the matter once it went viral, though a large number of people questioned the veracity of the article itself rather than issue a blanket judgement on either side:
how is Aziz Ansari meant to understand your non-verbal cues its your FIRST date! want him to go slower? dont go back to his house on the first date, say no, at no point in the story did he become predatory, as a recipient of abuse it INFURIATES me that were defining abuse as this

Im sorry but if ur capable of saying no and you’re able to leave and there is no threat to your safety and nothing was actually forced then you weren’t sexually abused. I’m not saying what Aziz Ansari did was right like he’s a total creep but you literally could’ve walked out sis

You go on a date with someone. You *both* start kissing and making out. They *ask* you to give them head. You give them head. Later you regret it and call is assault. So consent is now a psychic thing then? I should read a girl's mind not her words & actions?

She went home with him, he made some clumsy moves cuz he’s a beta, and now it’s a “Mee Too” moment. Absurd. https://t.co/Z9SyN85hxd

Women Need To Take Responsibility And Say No, Not Expect Telepathy From Men: A woman's date with Aziz Ansari is made out to be sexual misconduct on his part for failure to read the woman's mind https://t.co/6BEkDFwjDt pic.twitter.com/60AT8xflAA

This comment is a false narrative. Everyone knows what Aziz did wrong. Women don’t seem to understand what the girl did wrong in this situation. Both parties need to be held accountable in situations like this.

Yet it is mixed messages, she performed oral on him twice after claiming to not want to do anything and even had sex with him. She regretted it that's what happened and now she's accusing him of sexual assault when he stopped when she said no and called her a cab

It's so easy to portray a man as a liar but when a woman makes a statement. Let's just roll with it. We are not letting him off the hook but can some legitimacy surface first. Labeling someone as a sexual offender us quite much

I feel people are trying hard to portray Aziz Ansari as a sex offender based on many misread signals and a women's bad dating experience. Also he did apologize d when he learnt that she's not into it.@anildash

I have to disagree. If she didnt say no and just went down on him because he pointed to his penis, it’s not assault. She is the reason that men arent taking the #MeToo movement seriously. I’ve been assaulted and it makes me angry to see women trivializing the point of all of this
