The State government will hold an inquiry into unauthorised sale of commercial LPG cylinders and take action against the culprits, the minister said.

He was speaking to press persons after conducting a raid on three gas refilling shops in Peenya.

His team seized 172 gas cylinders, illegally refilled with LPG meant for domestic purpose.
The raids were conducted on Pushpagiri Gas Agency at Vidya Nagar in T Dasarahalli, Raghu Ranganath Agency in Defence Colony and a godown in Bagalakunte.

The Union Government offers LPG for domestic purpose at subsidised price. For domestic purpose it costs Rs 25 per kg, while for commercial purpose it is Rs 58 per kg. The gas agencies fill commercial cylinders with domestic LPG and sell at higher price. The staff seized a four-wheeler and arrested two people in this connection.

Halappa said, the department would look into the role of the agencies and take actions against them too. Admitting inefficiency among officers in the department as reason for illegal activities, the minister said he would take disciplinary action against officers responsible.
