'Elaborate plans to promote religious, spiritual programmes'

Palimaru mutt seer Sri Vidhyadheesha Theertha Swami has said that elaborate plans have been scheduled to promote religious and spiritual programmes in and around the temple city and the district.

The seer, who will take charge of the temple administration on January 18 for a period of two years, told DH that he would initiate daily prayers and poojas to Lord Krishna with tulsi petals. A tulsi petal bank has been set up wherein lots of tulsi plants are grown and the petals would also be collected from outside to offer prayers to Lord Krishna.

He added that another ambitious project is to get the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Krishna covered with gold as the lord has come from the land of gold, Dwaraka. "About 100 kilograms of gold is required besides 1,500 cubic feet of teak wood. The wood is being collected from Andhra Pradesh," he said.

The seer said that he has plans to offer two sets of uniforms for children of schools that have been identified and the food would be offered for kids regularly. He said some schools have been identified and would be included in the list. He also has plans to start 'Savira Koti Rama Nama Sankeertana Lekhana Mala', wherein the name of Lord Rama would be written thousands of crore times.

Bhajan troupes from outside and local areas will be rendering bhajan compositions for all the days and nights during the two-year tenure, he said.

The seer said that cattle stock should be nurtured and conserved. He said that the government should offer Gomala land earmarked for the purpose which would help people to take care of cattle. He said violence should not be the solution for conserving cattle.
