A 25 year old pregnant woman was attacked by a sloth bear on Thursday morning at Chokkasandra village in Kanakapura, Ramanagara forest division.
The decesed Suma Bai, wife of Praveen Kumar Naik, was pregnant for five months.
The incident occurred around 5.30 am when had gone out to answer nature's call.
She had nail marks near her neck and ear lobes which confirm it was a bear attack and not a leopard attack, said officers.
The family of the victim would get Rs five lakh compensation according to forest rules, added the officers.
