Sangh behind Hindu activists' killings: Hariprasad

Last Updated 20 January 2018, 16:55 IST

AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad on Saturday charged the Sangh Parivar with being responsible for the killing of 13 Hindu activists in Dakshina Kannada district.

"(BJP member) Praveen Poojary was killed by the Bajrang Dal. The string blade was used as a weapon. Of all the killings of Hindu workers in the Dakshina Kannada district, the Sangh Parivar is involved in 13 of them," Hariprasad said. He was speaking at the launch of a book here.

"The Dakshina Kannada district has been turned into a Hindutva laboratory. Dalits and Shudras continue to be barred from entering temples there. Dalit leaders are being made scapegoats by making them sport vermilion on their forehead," he said, dubbing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as 'Rumour Spreading Society'. "They want to create an atmosphere of fear."

BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje condemned Hariprasad's comments on the RSS. "Congress leaders are in a competitive mode to please their bosses," she tweeted.

Professionals' Congress

All India Professionals' Congress (AIPC) South India coordinator J Geeta Reddy on Saturday launched the Bengaluru East chapter of the professionals' outfit. "Congress is India's first political party to provide a platform for working professionals," said Geeta, who is also a legislator representing the Zahirabad constituency in Telangana. "AIPC has become an important part of India's and Congress' political movement. We provide the material required to mirror Congress' goals and objectives."

She chaired a meeting of the AIPC along with Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Dinesh Gundu Rao, KPCC campaign committee chairman D K Shivakumar, AICC secretary Madhu Goud Yaskhi and others.
