EC rule worries Gram Panchayat candidates

According to the Election Commission Order No 11 EUB-02, special instruction 2, candidates can even declare their assets on a plain white sheet or on the photocopy of the stipulated format and sign it. There is no fee for the same. As against the existing order, some officials are asking the candidates to declare their assets on a stamp paper in presence of a notary. Due to this misleading information, the candidates are running around for stamp paper. A candidate has to shell out about Rs 1,000 to file nomination.

Nominations
On Thursday, as many as 188 aspirants filed their nomination for GP election in Chikmagalur district.

As many as 57 nominations were filed in Chikmagalur taluk. Kadur had 29 nominations, Mudigere had 51 nominations, N R Pura has 8 nominations, Sringeri had 4, Koppa had 11. On Wednesday 63 nominations were filed. The total nominations filed is 251 in two days.
