The BJP's 'Parivarthana Yatra' received good response in the city despite the Karnataka bandh on Thursday.

Even though the KSRTC suspended bus services in Mysuru, a large number of people from parts of Mysuru region reached the city in private vehicles to attend the rally addressed by BJP president Amit Shah.

BJP leaders of the respective areas had arranged transport facility to ferry the people. According to sources, a majority of the participants are from Gundlupet Assembly segment in Chamarajanagar district. The people from Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya and Chamarajanagar took part in the event in large numbers.

BJPleaders, including state president BSYeddyurappa, MPShobha Karandlaje, BJPstate vice-president VSrinivas Prasad, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, leaders S Suresh Kumar, SARamdas and HVRajeev took part in the rally from Ramaswamy Circle to Maharaja's College Grounds.

Several people left the venue before Yeddyurappa commenced his speech. A large number of the people left soon after Shah concluded his speech.

A few Kannada activists staged a protest at Ramaswamy Circle. They said their protest was for Mahadayi river water and there was no politics involved.

The protestors raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yeddyurappa and MPs from the state. The agitators also raised slogans against the state government.
