Hassan DC transfer: Manju hits back at 'old man' Gowda

Animal Husbandry Minister A Manju on Thursday accused the JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda of abusing power on several occasions to effect transfers of officials.

As the controversy over the transfer of IAS officer and Hassan deputy commissioner Rohini Sindhuri Dasari continues to brew, Manju, who is Hassan district incharge minister, said that he would soon reveal the actual reason for the officer's transfer, and the persons behind it.

Manju, who was in Bengaluru to meet with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, told reporters that he had nothing to do with Sindhuri's transfer. "I will soon reveal why the officer was transferred. I will also expose the persons who have been demanding cuts and commissions for civil works," he said.

Calling Gowda an "old man", Manju said that a leader of his stature should refrain from making irresponsible statements.

Manju also claimed that Gowda won the Hassan Lok Sabha seat with his support. "Gowda, who had lost the seat and was sitting at home, later came to me for help. He should reveal how he became an MP and whose help he took. I'm not the one who is indebted to him -- it's vice versa. Unlike Gowda, who is only a class 7 pass, I hold a double degree," added Manju.

He also charged that Gowda wants only his children and family members to enjoy power. "Are they the only Gowdas?" he said.
