BSF women bike stunts cynosure of all eyes

Many skipped a heart beat, several sat with their eyes and mouth wide open, some were left gasping for breath looking at the dare-devilry by the Border Security Force(BSF) personnels on motorcycles, who at the end won everybody's hearts.

The Seema Bhavani - the 106-member team from the BSF riding 26 350cc Royal Enflied bullets - created history on Friday by becoming the first all-women team to perform biking stunts during the Republic Day parade here.

BSF and Army motorcycle teams perform alternate years in the parade.

The team led by Sub Inspector Stanzin Noryang performed 16 types of stunts including fish riding, side riding, faulaad, peacocka and saptarishi, in front of President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leaders from the ten Asean nations and thousands of spectators at the Rajpath.

The dignitaries, especially the President was seen excited about the performance, and spectators were thrilled seeing the women bikers.

The team members, aged between 25-30 years, train for hours every day.

The stunts started with Noryang, who hails from Ladakh, saluting the President while balancing herself atop her motorcycle. Two women constables then came balancing themselves on a single motorcycle in the fish formation.

Other stunts included a performance of 'bull fighting' by two women Constables on motorcycle and peacock formation by six on a single bullet.

Another seven displayed their fine balancing on motorcycle by making a wind mill formation.

The culmination was the 'flag march pyramid' where 29 personnel deftly balanced themselves on seven motorcycles, carrying tricolour and chanting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' as they passed the saluting dais.
