State police all set for Mahamastakabhisheka: DGP

Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Neelamani Raju said that all necessary security arrangements are made for the Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka at Shravanabelagola,  the Jain pilgrimage centre,  in February.  

After meeting  Jain seer Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami, on Tuesday, she told reporters that security will be provided based on the numbers of visitors, tourists and VIPs.

Information will be provided to the attendees in Kannada, Hindi and English.  CCTV and binoculars will be used to monitor crowds.    

The DGP said that the attendance of President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not yet certain.  

"But we have taken all measures to provide security for their participation. Using drones for filming has been banned, except in cases where they are absolutely needed and permitted,"  

ASI dies of heart failure

An assistant sub-inspector who was assigned on Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka duty died of heart attack.  

ASI Rangaswamy (57) collapsed while he was discharging duties in Kalasa Nagar in Shravanabelagola.

He belongs to Arkalgudu in Hassan. The Shravanabelagola police have registered a case in this connection.
