Pay panel to submit report today

The sixth pay commission headed by retired IAS officer M R Sreenivasamurthy will submit its report to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday.

The four-member Commission, which was constituted in June last year, will recommend to the government on the revision of pay scale of government employees. It will also determine the new Dearness Allowances (DA) formula and propose quantum of various other allowances for the employees.

The chief minister is likely to incorporate the Commission's recommendation in his budget 2018-19 scheduled to be presented on February 16.

The government employees' association has been seeking pay parity with Central government employees. It has also asked the Commission to propose a five-day week for them.
