Integrated management system for SSLC, PU exams: Jayachandra

The upcoming SSLC and PUC exams will be conducted using an integrated examination management system, with the state Cabinet approving the launch of a technology based programme, 'Pragati 10 and 13' by Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board and PU department.

Law Minister T B Jayachandra, who briefed the media on Wednesday, said that the new system, which was being put in place at a cost of Rs 80 crore, would help improve the entire examination process of SSLC and PUC.

Not only will it help make analytics easier, it will also help eliminate errors right from the valuation stage to declaration of results to issue of marks cards.

Data of as many as 15 lakh students will be integrated online. While the Karna-
taka Secondary Education Examination Board will be utilising Rs 50 crore, the
Pre University department will be using over Rs 30 crore for implementing the project.

Digi-locker facility

The system includes the digi-locker facility enabling students store certificates and documents on the cloud, and reducing their need to carry physical certificates.

Students will need to possess Aadhaar numbers to use this facility. Officials also
said that henceforth evaluators will be verified through their Aadhaar number to help identify answer scripts evaluated by them.

Sub-committee to review

Jayachandra said that the Cabinet had decided to refer the Karnataka Education Policy 2017 to a sub- committee headed by him to review it before putting out the draft of the policy.
