Advani should resign: Janardhana Poojary

Last Updated 24 April 2010, 17:19 IST

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Poojary said that Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Sushma Swaraj and Advani were lashing out at former Union Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor. “Though there were no corruption charges or criminal cases against Tharoor, BJP leaders were in a hurry urging his resignation,” he said and demanded that Advani should step down from the position of MP.

‘Sushma the saviour’

Poojary charged that Sushma Swaraj has become a saviour for Reddy brothers, who loot the natural resources and State exchequer in Karnataka.

“Sushma  ensures protection to Reddy brothers, who face several charges including carrying out illegal mining, violating rules, encroaching land, misuse of power and looting the State exchequer. Reddy brothers themselves have admitted in public that Swaraj is their saviour,” Poojary said.

Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde had filed a 1008-page report on illegal minings being carried out by Reddy brothers in Bellary.

Similarly, several other reports against Reddy brothers were pending before the cabinet. Even the High Court and Supreme Court too had lashed out at Reddy brothers, he said.
“Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa himself had admitted earlier that illegal mining is being carried out in Bellary. However, the same Yeddyurappa later withdrawn all criminal cases pending against Reddy brothers and started protecting them,” he criticised.

BJP leaders, who speak about morality and values, remain silent on the wrongdoings of Reddy brothers, he charged.

Talking about the recent blast near Chinnaswamy Stadium during IPL match, Poojary said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, instead of visiting the blast site and taking initiative to speed up the inquiry, went to Singapore and Malasia.

“Let Yeddyurappa reveal as to why and with whom he went to foreign countries even in such a critical situation,” he questioned.

‘Operation Kamala in GP’

Poojary predicted that BJP may launch another Operation Kamala in Gram Panchayat elections too. “They will spend money lavishly to pocket elected members in the GP elections,” he added. Congress Leaders M G Hegde, Harikrishna Bantwal and Suresh Ballal were present.
