NGO to identify quality English teachers

Last Updated 24 April 2010, 18:41 IST

Realising that government schools lack quality English teachers, because of which children passing out of these schools were unable to read, write and speak English as good as the private school children, the organisation decided to contribute by supplementing teachers.

For the past five years, ten teachers have already been supplemented to government schools by the organisation in its payroll.

Venkataraman Iyer, who has been managing the organisation here said that one teacher has been dedicated per government school.

He added that the teacher supplemented from the NGO would be working with the other government teachers in that particular school, but be paid by the Trust.

Iyer added that the effort in the last five years has clearly benefited the children in a few Kannada and Urdu medium government schools. Swabhimaan is in the process of identifying quality high school English Medium teachers in maths, science and social science subjects.
