The mobile Indira Canteens, which were launched recently, are yet to be operational in all the wards. The canteen, which provides subsidised food, had launched 'food on wheels' in 24 wards, where the BBMP was unable to find land to build canteens.
BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said, "We are working on small changes on the vehicles, hence we couldn't launch the mobile canteens in all the wards. At a few wards, we are operating them on a trial basis. From February 10, all these canteens will start providing food."
"We are finalising parking space and the route map for the mobile canteens. Once the basic issues are fixed, we will start operating them," a BBMP official said.
