Assailants who murdered a BJP corporator's husband S Kadiresh in Anjenappa Garden on Wednesday robbed a bike from a plumber to flee the scene.

Based on a complaint by Rajesh Nataraj, the police on Friday said they are looking for a blue Bajaj Pulsar on which the three assailants fled.

Nataraj said he had pulled in and was talking on the phone close to an arch at Balekaimandi near Anjenappa Garden when three men carrying lethal weapons took away his bike. He got frightened and let go of the vehicle,  which  belonged to his brother Suresh. He said they took the Tank Bund Road and headed towards Sirsi Circle.

Nataraj said the men wore blood-stained clothes and held machetes and daggers.

Based on Nataraj's statement, the police have intensified their search for the killers and are analysing CCTV footage in the surrounding areas.

"We suspect the accused may have fled and are hiding in a neighbouring city," said a senior officer, adding that they have got some leads and are looking into it.

On February 7, Kadiresh, the husband of BJP corporator Rekha R, was hacked to death while supervising preparations for the Shivaratri festivities at Muneshwara Temple in Cottonpet.
