Parties busy selecting candidates for GP polls

Last Updated 25 April 2010, 17:02 IST

Though the election will be held without political party symbols, candidates are in the race to win the seat with the support of political parties. Major parties including BJP and JD(S) have already finalised their list. However, Congress is yet to finalise the candidates’ list. Meanwhile, the CPI too has decided to field candidates in the election.

While BJP is giving opportunities to all local leaders, JD(S) is successful in attracting influencial leaders to their side. CPI has decided to field nine candidates in Kalasa. Leader Gopala Shetty said that the party’s fight will continue after winning representation in the GP.

As the Congress had cut the relation with JD(S), more Congress leaders are likely to get seats. Meanwhile, independent candidates too are gearing up to contest in the election.
