Jarkiholi miffed

The rift between the Jarkiholi brothers came to the fore at the Janaashirvaada Yatre.

Satish Jarkiholi and his brother, Co-operation Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, were initially sitting in the front row on the dais. Miffed with the party leaders, especially Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for giving importance to Ramesh, Satish went and sat in the last row. Sensing that Satish was upset, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal tried to pacify him, but in vain.

Invokes greats

AICC president Rahul Gandhi took the names of several noted personalities from the north Karnataka region during his speech to woo voters belonging to the communities they belonged to. He invoked saint-poets Akkamahadevi and Shishunal Sharif and musicians Bhimsen Joshi and Mallikarjuna Mansur.

Chai pe charcha

Rahul had tea, mirchi bhajji and puffed rice at Salim tea stall at Gandhi Chowk, Vijayapura. He was accompanied by Siddaramaiah, Mallikarjuna Kharge, Ministers M B Patil, D K Shivakumar, KPCC president G Parameshwara and other leaders. He also had a conversation with
stall owner Salim.

Tense situation

A tense situation prevailed on the premises of the Inspection Bungalow in Belagavi, where Rahul Gandhi had been staying, for a while as a section of the party workers were denied entry, despite having passes with them. They raised slogans against KPCC secretary Rajashekhar Menasinakai for not being allowed inside. They threatened to chop his legs if he entered the district Congress office.
