Hassan gets Passport Seva Kendra

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda inaugurated a Passport Seva Kendra, set up by Ministry of External Affairs, at the main Post Office in Hassan on Thursday.

Expressing his gratitude to the Postal authorities for their cooperation in getting a new passport seva kendra in the district, he said, "Henceforth, the people of Hassan district need not go to Bengaluru office, to get their passports done. They can get it done at the seva kendra in Hassan," he said.

Gowda said, he would pressure the Centre to recommend UNESCO to include Belur, Halebeedu, Shravanabelagola and other historical places in the list of world heritage sites.

MLA H S Prakash said, the passport verification process and renewal of passports will be done at the seva kendra.

Deve Gowda and Prakash distributed receipts for the applicants who had applied for passports at the seva kendra during the programme.

CMC president H S Anil Kumar, Regional Passport Officer Bharath Kumar Kuthati, Dakshina Kannada Postal Superintendent Rajendra Kumar and others were present.
