United they stood

Style statement: A fashion show in progress.

DSI’s own 600 foreign students joined hands with overseas students from other colleges in the City to put up an eye-catching cultural show here recently.

Fashion show, dance and music, mime, drama, skit, solo and group performances, representing many countries, gave the event a cohesive look — that of a united world.
Foreign students, especially from the South East Asian countries, coming to the DSI Colleges are trained in English in a foundation programme prior to their joining  the Bachelor’s programme.

These students having studied in non-English medium schools surprised audiences with delivery of lines from the Shakespearean drama – A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The characters of the play came alive — giving the event a new angle.

Faculty of the Dayananda Sagar Centre for English and Foreign Languages trained the foreign students to give voice and emotions to Shakespeare’s drama, making students understand the meanings of phrases like betrayal, lust and love, forbidden love, heartbreak, deception and tragedy. The bard’s soul was reawakened four and half centuries later.
