'No confidence motion' against Kodagu ZP chief, deputy

Members demand special meeting on the issue

“In the last seven months of power, President and Vice-President have not responded to our demands. Hence, we are moving no confidence motion against ZP President and Vice-President. A special meeting must be convened in this regard, said 15 ZP members who have signed the ‘no confidence motion’ letter.

ZP members V P Shashidhar, H S Ashok and Bhanumathi submitted no confidence motion to the ZP President’s PS Vaasu. Independent candidate H S Ashok, JD(S) candidate H B Ganesh, P B Manjula, Congress members Deerghakeshi Shivanna, M K Nanjappa, Vrindababu, Bhanumathi, A Lokeshkumar, V P Shashidhar, Rajamma Rudraiah, M B Abdul Lathif, Humayunbegum, Chitra Ramesh, K M Balakrishna, Chambanda Kalaiah, Uthappa have signed the no confidence motion.

Later, speaking to presspersons, Congress member V P Shashidhar said “opposition have been neglected by the President. We are tired of the attitude of the ruling party members.”

“The partiality being met on the members, the attitude of the ruling party members in the meeting and making an attempt to hide the misappropriation cases, and an attempt to hold the meeting in spite of the shortage of quorum have made us sad. To find a solution to the major problems of the district and to put an end to the present administration, the no confidence motion is being mooted.”

Shashidhar urged ZP President and Vice-President to tender resignation owning moral resonsibility.

He said “election code of conduct will not come in the way of convening special meeting.”
Independent member H S Ashok said “an agreement was made with the ruling party that after six months, president post will be handed over to me. However, even after seven months, none of them have held discussions with me. As the ruling party had failed to take me into confidence, I had to rebel and take back the support. I am committed to my decision. I will not heed to any pressure.”

President reacts

“Congress is craving for power. Hence, they have moved no confidence motion against me. The time will answer all,” said ZP President V M Vijaya.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, he said: “I had not expected ZP President’s post. I have worked honestly taking all into confidence. I am ready for open discussion, if there is any fault from my side. If I had taken single pie from an official or contractor, let them prove it. How can I answer for false allegations.”

He said no agreement was made to hand over the charge to H S Ashok.
