Govt uses cinemas to advertise its schemes

Last Updated 06 March 2018, 20:09 IST

The ruling Congress, which is conducting a publicity blitz advertising its programmes and schemes through various platforms, has now started using cinema halls for the purpose.

For nearly a month now, the department of information and public relations has been placing two- to three-minute video ads, on eight priority sectors, in theaters across the state.

The ads, which primarily showcase the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the popular tagline 'Nava Karnataka Nirmanakke Sada Siddha Sarkara', are shown at the beginning and during the interval of films. The government has already been aggressively pushing the campaign on TV, radio, print and social media. Vinyl posters featuring Siddaramaiah can be seen plastered all over buses and trains. In addition to theatres, these videos are also being shown on television sets in railway and bus stations.

Information Commissioner P S Harsha told DH that these film advertisements were part of the continuous process of engagement with the citizenry.

The videos also get updated once every 15 to 20 days to keep it relevant.
