Banaswadi railway station is fully women operated

The South Western Railways declared the Banaswadi railway station as an all-women managed station. The operations, commercial and security activities will be carried out here exclusively by women employees. It is the first such in the South Western Railways.

The KSR Bengaluru–Danapur Sanghamitra Express was flagged off with an all women on-board crew on Women's Day. The crew included an Assistant Loco Pilot, guard, three security personnel and eight Ticket Checking staff who worked on the train from KSR Bengaluru to Chennai Central railway station.

Sanitary pads vending machine

A sanitary napkin vending machine was installed in the Ladies Waiting Hall in Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station and Yeshwantpur railway station by the South Western Railway.

The two coin-operated machines dispense ultra thin pads at a cost of Rs.5, lower than the market rate. They have been funded by the South Western Railway Women's Welfare Organization at a cost of Rs.47,000 each.

The machine will send SMS on the stock level in the vending machine to designated mobile numbers so that it is immediately replenished.
