Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister TB Jayachandra on Saturday said that unanimous decision would be taken about the report submitted by HN Nagamohan Das regarding according the status of independent religion to Lingayat faith at the cabinet meeting on March 14.

"There is neither confusion nor differences of opinion among ministers about according the status of independent religion to the Lingayat faith", he told reporters.

Meanwhile in Kalaburagi, Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil dismissed reports of heated arguments among ministers in the cabinet meeting over accepting recommendations of H N Nagamohan Das committee.

"Ministers just shared their opinions. In a democratic set up everybody can share opinions. Reports regarding a few ministers willing to resign over the issue are false and baseless", Patil claimed.

Regarding the controversy, the law will take its own course, he said.

'We will get our share in Mahadayi river'

As for the dispute over sharing of water from Mahadayi river, Jayachandra expressed confidence that Karnataka will get justice and its share of water.

"Our legal team has convincingly presented arguments before the Tribunal. Hearing of the case is over and judgement is likely in a few months. I am confident that we will get justice", he said.

The minister said that Karnataka State Law University will shortly get a new vice-chancellor.

"Governor Vajubhai Vala has rejected a proposal submitted by the government regarding appointing vice-chancellor twice. The third proposal is pending before him. The varsity will get new vice-chancellor shortly", he said.

Jayachandra did not consider the attack of Lokayukta Justice P Vishwanath Shetty as a case of security lapse.

"Lokayukta is a public institution and we can't look at every person arriving there with suspicion", he said and added: "We will take appropriate steps to ensure proper security at the Lokayukta office."
