JOIN USThe Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports has released Rs 30 lakh to take up work on renovation and provide facilities at General Thimayya District Stadium in Madikeri.
The stadium has been used by the sporting talent in the district for training. However, the stadium has been in a terrible state for the past few years and has been leaking of late during the monsoons.
A tender has been invited for the repair of boys and girls hostel for the junior category, repair of the pavilion, and for painting.
Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Assistant Director Jayalakshmi Bai said basic facilities will be provided at the hostel.
According to officials, a proposal for Rs 6 crore has been submitted for laying the synthetic track, a walking path and other facilities at the stadium.
