Brigade Road, Museum Road and Commercial Street will now be developed under the TenderSURE (Specifications for Urban Utilities and Road Execution) project. "The positive response (from the public) has spurred us to work on these roads as well," BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad told DH.

The state government has given its nod for the project, while the BBMP has finalised the tender process for Museum Road that cuts across Church Street from MG Road to Brigade Road.

The civic body has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Brigade Road and Commercial Street and would call for tenders in a few weeks.

"Since these streets attract large footfall, the BBMP wants them to be pedestrian-friendly," said an officer. "Redeveloping the narrow Commercial Street - the city's prime shopping destination - will make the stretch pedestrian-friendly," the officer added.

These roads will have pedestrian-friendly features like TenderSURE granite footpaths, LED streetlights, cycle stands, dustbins and other utility ducts.
