Eyebrows raised as minister touches feet of pregnant women

Eyebrows were raised when Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Dr Ravindra Kumar prostrated before and touched the feet of pregnant women at a baby shower programme organised for them at Ramasamudra near here on Thursday.

The minister said he had no hesitation in doing so, as the women were like his sisters, much to the bewilderment of those who were present at the programme.

Kumar later inaugurated the new building of the anganwadi centre. He fed milk and peanut laddoos to the children there. When officials brought eggs for feeding the children, he refused to touch them, saying he was a pure vegetarian.
