JOIN USJD(S) candidate in the Rajya Sabha polls B M Farookh on Thursday expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious in the elections, scheduled to be held on Friday.
Farookh said he is banking on the support of Independent and the disgruntled Congress MLAs to sail through the polls. "I have requested the Independent MLAs to vote for me. I hope they will honour their commitment to me. I am surely keeping my fingers crossed. Also, some of the Congress MLAs who have been denied tickets for the upcoming Assembly elections, and the Veerashaiva MLAs who are upset with the government, may register their protest," he added.
The JD(S) has 37 MLAs on its side. But, seven of them have rebelled and they are likely to vote for the Congress.
Farookh had lost in the Rajya Sabha election held in 2016 due to cross-voting by the rebel MLAs.
