Four metal-blocking poles meant for installation at the TenderSURE footpath on Mission Road were stolen on Wednesday.

When the incident came to light, project in-charge assistant executive engineer Nagaraju B filed a complaint with the Cubbon Park police.

The civic authority said unknown people stole the four blocking pillars with the chain, which cost Rs 50,000, from the footpath area close to the SBI Circle on St Marks Road.

Nagaraju found out about the missing pillars as he went on rounds on Thursday. Part of the footpath where the pillars were installed has also been damaged.

The Cubbon Park police have registered a case of theft and are checking the CCTV footage to identify the culprits.

The SBI Circle on St Marks Road is one of the busiest junctions in the city patrolled by the beat police. The whole stretch is covered with multiple CCTV cameras.

Nagaraju said senior officials in the BBMP have been informed about the theft, assuring that the work would continue after the police are done with their investigations.
