Robber gang attempts to loot bank, fails, flees

A gang of robbers attempted to break into the strong room of the Central Bank of India branch, near the sugar factory, in Gauribidanur on  Sunday night by drilling the back wall of the bank.      

As the branch is located at an isolated spot and does not have adequate security, the gang has made this bid, said the police. Also, the robbery was attempted during a thunderstorm in the area, when people were  indoors.  

In their search for the money, the gang has ransacked the entire bank, leaving all the records in disarray. Police said that the gang has then tried to break into the strong room and fled, when they could not succeed.  

The branch manager lodged a complaint with the police on Monday morning. Police visited the spot and investigations are on.
