Vijayendra, BJP's prospective candidate from Varuna meets party leaders

B Y Vijayendra, son of former chief minister and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, who is likely to contest from Varuna Assembly segment in the upcoming Assembly election, against Dr Yathindra, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, visited the temples and met prominent leaders in Mysuru region on Monday.

Vijayendra, along with his family members, visited Male Mahadeshwara Swamy temple in Chamarajanagar district and Chamundeshwari Devi temple atop the Chamundi Hill in Mysuru. He met former MLA Parimala Nagappa and former minister V Srinivas Prasad at their residence.

Vijayendra reached Male Mahadeshwara Hill on Sunday night, performed special puja to the deity on Monday morning. On his way to Mysuru from betta, a large number of BJP supporters welcomed him near Gunja Narasimha Swamy temple on T Narasipur Road.

Later, Vijayendra visited former MLA Parimala Nagappa at her residence.

On his arrival at Mysuru, he visited the branch of Suttur Mutt, at the foot of Chamundi Hill. Vijayendra and his family members took the blessings of Suttur seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamy at the mutt.

Later, Vijayendra visited the Chamundi Hill and offered puja to Chamundeshwari Devi.

Vijayendra meets Prasad

Vijayendra met former minister, also BJP state unit vice president, V Srinivas Prasad at his residence in Mysuru and discussed the present political scenario of Varuna Assembly constituency.

Later, he attended a party workers meeting at a choultry near Chikkanahalli under Varuna Assembly segment. He sought suggestions from party leaders as well as the workers.

Speaking to media, Vijayendra said, he has not visited the constituency as a candidate.

"The BJP high command will decide on the candidature. I will work for the candidate selected by the party leaders," Vijayendra said.
