HRD minister more concerned about K'taka polls: Cong MP

Last Updated 02 April 2018, 19:04 IST

Congress leader M V Rajeev Gowda on Monday said Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar was more concerned about the BJP's election strategy in Karnataka and demanded his ouster over the leakage of the CBSE question paper.

"The paper leak is an after-effect of the disastrous policies and neglect of education by the Modi government. That the HRD Minister is more concerned about the booth-level election strategy of BJP in Karnataka only adds to the worry," Gowda, a Rajya Sabha member who is also a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD, told reporters.

Javadekar is the election in-charge of the BJP in Karnataka, which goes to polls on May 12.

Gowda also took potshots at IAS officer Anita Karwal, who is the CBSE chairperson. "She has spent more time marketing her book about mountaineering than judiciously undertaking her duties," he charged.

The leakage of the Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics question papers has affected nearly 20 lakh students across India. A re-examination of the Class 12 economics paper will be held on April 25.
