Mutt visits to dominate BJP chief's state tour from March 26

Visit to Siddaganga, Sirigere, Madara Channaiah and Muruga mutts, road shows, addressing coconut, arecanut growers conventions among others form part of the itinerary of BJP president Amit Shah during his two-day tour of four districts of central Karnataka from March 26.

The mutt visit spree of Shah is seen as a move to woo the dominant Lingayat and electorally significant Dalit votes ahead of the Assembly polls.

Shah will land in Bengaluru on March 25 and then tour Tumakuru, Shivamogga, Davangere and Chitradurga for the next two days.

On March 26, he will heli-hop to Siddaganga Mutt in Tumakuru and call on Siddaganga Mutt seer. Later in the day, he will participate in a coconut growers' convention at Tiptur and then visit Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Memorial in Kavishaila at Kuppali in hirthahalli taluk of   Shivamogga district.

In Tirthahalli, he will participate in arecanut growers' convention. Interact with trade and business community and, a road show has been organised in Shivamogga city.

Dinner diplomacy

He will end his day having dinner with senior leaders B S Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa. The duo have been at loggerheads over the issue of party tickets for the Assembly polls. Supporters of Eshwarappa had threatened to revive the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade if their leader is denied the ticket to contest from Shimoga City seat.

Yeddyurappa held a meeting at his residence in Shivamogga recently, seeking opinion from local leaders on whether Eshwarappa should be given the ticket as he had fared badly in the 2013 Assembly polls. It is said Yeddyurappa is keen on fielding his close aide Rudregowda. Shah is expected to speak his mind with the two leaders.

On March 27, the BJP chief will participate in "Musti Dhanya Sangraha Abhiyan", a farmers' outreach campaign in Davangere. He will later visit Sirigere, Madara Channaiah and Muruga mutts in Chitradurga.
