Railway ads to carry only project details not VVIPs names

The Indian Railways has decided not to publish the names of dignitaries in its advertisement related to launching of a new project instead details of the project and its benefit will be displayed.

"There should be no names of dignitaries in the advertisements except the person who is inaugurating the event", the Directorate of information and publicity department of the Indian Railways said in the instructions issued to the zonal offices.

Terming that the quality of advertisements being carried now as very poor, officials in the railways said currently only names of dignitaries are published in the advertisement while little detail is given about the project. In future, all advertisements will publish details of the project and its benefits to the public in detail.

At present Indian Railway advertisement related to new project launching, whether new line or flagging of new train, publishes the name of all elected representative of local areas including MPs, MLA, local bodies and others.

"The latest instruction was given to ensure that common public get to know details about the project. Carrying too many names will cut down space in the advertisement, resulting in having little space to mention details of the project," said official.

However, the names of elected representatives of local areas including MPs will be published in the invitation cards as per the existing procedure and protocol, said the official.
