Koliwad sought change of JD(S) candidate, says Horatti

JD(S) MLC Basavaraj Horatti has alleged that Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad with targeting him for political reasons.

Horatti told DH that the Assembly secretariat had issued him a notice asking him to vacate the room allotted to him in the Legislators' Home, at Koliwad's behest. He added that Koliwad had resorted to this measure, as he had refused to comply with the Speaker's request.

"Koliwad has made way for his son Prakash Koliwad to contest from Ranebennur. The JD(S) has announced Sripad Sahukar as its candidate in the Assembly segment. Though Koliwad and Sahukar are related, they are not in good terms. Koliwad approached me asking me to request H D Kumaraswamy to change the candidate. But when I did not heed to his demand, he decided to target me," he added.

Horatti was allotted the room in LH in 1981, when he was first elected as the MLC. When contacted, Koliwad said that Horatti had been using a room meant for MLAs. "There is a separate facility for MLCs. Hence, I have asked him to vacate the room. I have done nothing wrong," he added.
