Last Updated 04 April 2018, 19:18 IST

Three mobile applications will be launched today for exclusively Bengalureans to help create better awareness among voters about polling and also actively involve them to ensure better polling practices.

The three appsElection Officers Directory, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) Reporting and Election Quiz, have been developed by the District Election Officer (DEO) and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner, N Manjunath Prasad and special commissioner, BBMP, Manoj Rajan, in a span of three days.

With the help of the MCC Reporting app, voters themselves get an opportunity to report a violation of the model code of conduct directly to election officers in the city. The election officers will further report the case and an investigation will be carried out. "There can be several instances of violations of the code and if people come across them, they can click a picture of the violation or register a complaint directly with the election officer," said Prasad.

"This is an initiative to enable better citizen participation in the entire election process," said Manoj Rajan.

"Election Officers Directory app has a list of more than 500 election officers and it will help people to easily connect with them if they need details about polling station or the voter's list," said Prasad.

Elections Quiz app has a number of multiple-choice questions about elections in the city.

"The app will be formally launched today by the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Om Prakash Rawat in the afternoon," said Prasad.
