Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samithi Dakshina Kannada district unit has urged the district administration and the Endowment Department to intervene and reinstate 10 artistes expelled from the fifth Yakshagana troupe of Sri Durgaparameshwari Prasadita Dashavatara Yakshagana Mandali, Kateel.
DSS State Committee member P Keshava said on Friday that a memorandum in this regard will be submitted to the DC and the department officials on Saturday.
The artistes had warned of walking out of the troupe, so as to register their protest against the transfer of the Bhagawat of the fifth troupe. However, troupe owner Deviprasad Shetty was not ready to hold any discussions with the artistes and expelled them without any warning, he said.
